OK, so today is the last day of simple algebraic division. Next week your child learns how to divide one polynomial by another. The problems today potentially have two steps: first is the simple division and second is the possible expansion (multiplying out) of terms and then simplification by adding and or subtracting terms that you can combine.

1. $2(a+c)+3(a+x)=2a+2c+3a+3x=5a+2c+3x$
2. $(x+y)-2a(x-y)=x+y-2ax+2ay$
3. $a(c+d)+b(c^2-d)=ac+ad+bc^2-bd$
4. $ac-bc$
5. $6(a-b)+3c(a-b)^2=6a-6b+3c(a^2-ab-ba+b^2)=6a-6b+3a^2c-6abc+6b^2c$
6. $a(x+y)+c(x+y)^2=ax+ay+c(x^2+xy+yx+y^2)=ax+ay+cx^2+2cxy+cy^2$
